I must sadly abandon my project to restore this classic 1981 Mercedes-Benz 380SL R107 roadster to its former glory.
A solid, complete, and driveable car with a matching hard top, this formerly Southern car has very little rust, and has the correct “Bundt” wheels and four new tires. I know very little about its provenance, except that it was purchased new in Alabama and registered there sporadically through the years. I purchased it earlier this year from a consignee in Georgia.
The car has considerable curb appeal. It appears to have been reupholstered in dark brown leather, and seats and carpet are in very good condition. The matching hard top has a small tear in the headliner but is otherwise in very good condition. The soft top frame is good, but the material needs replacement. The rear shocks are new. The principal issues seem to be mechanical and electrical; the instrument cluster is non-functional, so the actual mileage is unknown.
It sports a PA antique plate and a clean PA title with no liens. Sale will include a stand and cover for the hard top.
