Description:
This 1988 E28 classic is a beauty to drive. It came to me back in 2014 from a car guy in Connecticut. It was a euro bumper conversion, and didnt finish the euro headlights or front grill for some reason. It's been kept in a garage and with a cover when outside, but it still has some usual rust spots like the rear trunk edges above license plate, window corners, and under wheel wells. etc.
Sure it's not a perfect car cosmetically, so it could use a little body work/paint, but its a beauty to drive and all the robust sport 5-speed feeling, its ready to go anytime anywhere.
The 3.4-liter M30B34 inline-six was factory-rated at 182 horsepower and 213 lb-ft of torque. It has been tuned up a couple times and oil/filter changes yearly. It has been driven only about 1,000 miles per year; some maintenance items include Ive done are;
the usual plugs, fuel filter, rotor, ignition wire set, air filter
the battery was replaced in 2022 and added on/off switch
new mufflers & cat. converter done
replaced fuel tank
sway bar
breaks / break pads
pitman arm
clutch assembly and clutch slave
water pumps and belts
R&R tie assembly & alignment
2025 fully inspected
Some things on the list to follow up on are, onboard computer that stopped working last year that probably just changing out the LED screen/bulbs. The dashboard has the notorious cracks that are common with these older models. The speedometer works fine but the tachometer
stop working along with the odometer about 5 years ago -I suspect after 37 years those little plastic gears/bushing inside need replacing. The coolant temperature and fuel level gauge work as it should.
The front left fender was damaged by someone backing into it and had to be changed, but the paint job was not matched properly to the car. This would be corrected once the other areas with some rust are taking care of. I just didnt get it being involved in other car projects.
